Becoming a part of Ireland… or at least the clubs on campus

There are so many clubs and societies on this campus. They strongly encourage participation in extracurricular activities and volunteering. There are so many and it is hard to fit them into the short time here, along with classes and school work.
 I have joined three clubs/societies:
The International Society – they have weekly International Nights at the Stables Bar (on campus bar) for all international students to come together and meet each other and just have a good time. They also organize almost weekly trips to different parts of the country.
The OPC (Outdoor Pursuits Club) – hiking, climbing, caving, orienting. Outdoor adventures in Ireland??? Heck yes!!! This weekend Hannah and I are going on a weekend adventure with them to Letterfrack
The Christian Union - a group that meets Monday evenings for a little bit of Bible study and hang out and a few on campus outreach events throughout the year. I was super excited to find this one because it is hard on such a large campus to find this commonality in people
The PVA – President’s Volunteer Award – Sounds official right!!
So UL wants to encourage volunteering in the community so they have the PVA. I wanted to find somewhere to volunteer over here anyway, but this makes it even better. The PVA is given to anyone who volunteers consistently throughout their time at UL. I got involved in an afterschool homework club for the kids in the area. Every Wednesday for two hours, I go and help kids with whatever homework they have. It is so much fun hanging out with all those little Irish kids!! And their accents! Oh My gosh, I love it!!!
